A book of essays by Agamben. A collection of essays and thoughts from the early ’90s, this book is a nice refresher in Agamben’s main concepts and concerns.

Still, I really enjoyed this collection and recommend it heartily to those who want a refresher in his early works or who are only familiar with his later stuff.

Both were enemies of the Nazis. If you think about the rest of the book in terms of these more easily understood passages, it becomes a lot clearer.

No trivia or quizzes yet. It’s a fascinating journey through medieval Jewish mystical texts, Linnaeus, and modern philosophy. Some authors require a purpose to read them. A must-read only if you’re really into Agamben. The first part seems to be a nexus of the liminal stages of Homo Sacer.


There are no discussion topics on this book yet. People have criticized him to me I guess he is politically uninvolvedand I hear that his work is way too trendy an intellectual commoditybut I loved this book. This is Agamben’s attempt at analyzing the distinction between animal and man.
