There’s a lot of useful stuff in the book. This book was a revelation for me. If it weren’t for my life long commitment to understanding evil, I wouldn’t have even picked it up. The book is dense, but the subject matter is dense. A good book on psychopathology and how the andfew is pretty much run by them: Properly understood, this tome acts to innoculate the reader against narcissism and conversive thinking, the two major components of consciencelessness.

At the end, his “Logocracy” looks suspiciously like Plato’s Republic – except with psychologists in charge, rather than philosophers. Not only did they identify the root causes of the evil that plagued their government and society, they gave knowledge necessary to make a change, all in rich, scientific detail.
Morality and humanism cannot long withstand the predations of this evil. During happy times, societies enjoy prosperity and suppress advanced psychological knowledge of psychopathological influence in the corridors of power.

Largely very dry and largely devoid of examples. So many of its sections, even single sentences, contain so much substance and truth that it’s almost overwhelming. Psychopaths are not just serial killers and rapists, the successful ones are probably the most powerful people on earth.
Knowledge of its nature, how it creates its networks and spreads, how insidious is its guileful approach, is the only antidote. The good news is that this book is probably the most thorough piece of work I’ve come across dealing with the scientific approach to evil. Paperbackpages.

The author calls it a study of evil, which in a sense it is, but it is evil in the form we can see in, for example, the Nazi regime, Stalin, or Pol Pot, not the sort of evil as portrayed in some religions as originating with the Devil. No matter m.obaczewski you are, what your status in life, what your age or sex or nationality or ethnic background, you will, at some point in your life, feel the touch or relentless grip of ajdrew cold hand of Evil. The translation is decent but I wouldn’t say it’s ideal for western readers.
