Really liking Chris Perrins’ Mecha. I’m running both Battle Century G and Mechas , as we really enjoy both systems, but Mecha, even tho it is. Mecha RPG Softcover has 10 ratings and 6 reviews. Of course my complaints might as well be just my ignorance with all this, but I really need help.
To be honest, in terms of World Building, Pefrin haven’t really thought about it since publication. At first I was also very sceptical about having to roll initiatives, but when mmecha play for the objective, initiative become very important and quite exciting when someone have the control of the objective at the end of a turn.
Something like that will be hard to rip from the OCF! All of your points are pretty much dead on – I loved the campaign of Mecha that I played, but it definitely has its flaws.

But this was related to the skills setting the target numbers. Social scenes…okay, I will admit, I never gave giving the secondary goal much mechanical weight until you suggested it. I do have one thought Heavy Metal is a similar example, where a “stunt” that exchanges movement for defense seems more like “I’m bobbing and weaving too fast for you to hit me”, rather than “becoming very stout, almost rooted to the ground”.
May I ask what you use them for? Similarly, I picture Heavy Metal as using movement ability for defensive purposes i.

Ultimately, I think my sin was assuming that there was one way the Configurations would work rather than keeping things more generic.
I’m going to incorporate them into some brainstorming I am going to do. The don’t get selected often, though I had one mecba, who used Bulwark frighteningly effectively. Once you get to Mecha Combat 4 they tend to cause way too many Cutscenes.

I have 2 to 3 players every session, friends of mine. Jul 06, Lukas rated it liked it Shelves: Since you spend Overdrive to use configuration, using meecha feel more like “stunts” to me, and some of the configurations have flavor that seems opposite to the mechanical “stunt” I imagine for it.
They will get a copy of the Combiners PDF. It mevha nice tool to control the pacing, sometime the table turn cover a long downtime, some time it cover the few seconds you have to catch your breath between two attack waves. Let perrn know if you give it a shot, if you run into any problems, and how it works out. This made engineering more important, but caused another problem, wherein the “stand on the waypoint for x turns” victory condition became even swingier.
