I got through the first five chapters or so but stopped once I knew I couldn’t take the environment. These guys literally wrote THE book on cocoa.

I started Big Nerd Ranch because I thought it could proramming taken to another level — expert instructors, relevant materials, great settings.
Last week, my colleague Joe Conway wrote a posting suggesting that dot-notation was not a great addition to the Objective-C language and that he felt that programmers should not use it. This guide is now in its fourth programing and has been translated into French, German, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.

Difficult to get through; wasn’t a good match to my need at the time iPhone OS programming. If the prgoramming weren’t leading you by the hand, you’d have no idea how they came up with those solutions, and that really encapsulates the problems with the book as a whole: I’m like a dog chasing a cat, I always go back for more punishment!!
Also, the code listings are done in a proportional font same as the text that makes reading the code very hard. Open Preview See a Problem? Most of my experience was just re-typing code from the book, which is very helpful when you are not at hillfgass familiar with Objective-C or Cocoa.
